Tnis post contains a quote that I loved, but decided not to use in my book, The Mistakes That Make Us: Cultivating a Culture of Learning and Innovation.
Christy Whitman is a speaker, coach, and author of books, including Taming Your Alpha Bitch.
Was that book title a mistake? That’s for her to decide.
How do we learn from our mistakes without beating ourselves up?
“We all make mistakes, but we make a choice based on the consciousness and awareness we have at the time. We might look back and say, ‘That was a mistake. It taught me something. I grew.” We shouldn’t let a mistake “ruin our life” or to be “an excuse or why we can’t live fully now.”
A mistake shouldn’t be a reason not to try again — it should be viewed as a stepping stone.
The quote came from this episode of the “My Favorite Mistake” podcast:
Moving For a Cheating Boyfriend After Graduating: Christy Whitman
I hope you’ll check out her episode and the entire podcast series.
